5 ideas to enjoy your trip to Cusco.

If we think of Peru, we almost immediately think of Machu Picchu, and while it is one of the jewels of Peru, if we let our minds fly, we will have dense and unexplored jungles, we have incredible beaches from north to south, we find a lot of history to discover in any city we want to know and of course the gastronomy presented in every place we visit.

The travel designers of Teqse Travel were interviewed for this article, based on their experiences and the satisfaction of their travelers, we decided to put together this top 5 recommendations for family activities in Cusco.

Outdoor activities are and will always be the top of our recommendations, from a simple hike to a luxury glamping under the protection of the local Apus! Although being so close to the sky and the Apus (being at more than 11,000 feet), can move our heads and take our breath away, that is why the activities are recommended gradually, leaving the greatest effort for the days when we already become explorers.

A beautiful short and easy walk, is to let us be guided by this small stream, which comes from the fountain of youth of Tambomachay, guiding us through descending paths to a hidden and enigmatic place, Inkiltambo, a hidden pearl within the city of Cusco, a place almost exclusive to us, without many visitors, thus completing an obligatory circuit in the city.

Obviously, how to get to and from these places has to be on foot, in many moments we will walk along Inca trails, in other moments we will walk along paths made by the nearby community and in others, we will be the explorers opening the way as we go.

A picnic lunch with our friends from the Ccorcor community, sharing with them from their traditions to the different ways of harvesting and cooking, with local ingredients and techniques combined with our resident chef, achieving a lunch together, a conversation that they will never forget in a unique place and a highly recommended experience.

There is no passage through the Sacred Valley of the Incas, without taking a bike, and take the route to Maras and Moray, we have different starting points on the route to these two wonderful places, from easy routes and designed for families with children, to those who feel they can with a little more adrenaline. The end of these routes will always be rewarded by unique places, en route we will visit the terraces of Moray and the beautiful salt ponds of Maras.

4.-Peru was the epicenter of the cultural development of South America, we have wonderful artistic expressions in almost all the territory, but focusing that we are in Cusco, we have family workshops that will help us to know a little more about the techniques of dyeing and weaving of animal fibers, outdoor painting with a local artist, or visits to workshops of renowned masters from Cusco or one of our favorites a master class of ancient music with ancient instruments with a great friend Gustavo Leon.

5.- and it couldn’t be any other way!!! Peruvian food is a gold medal winner, and in this opportunity we will have a short walk through a local market, depending on where we are staying, and then dive into preparing from scratch, award-winning dishes in the world.

That is why we recommend you to schedule a couple of days if you want to do any of these activities, and don’t forget that our travel designers will be able to help you with this and many other recommendations.
